It is not just Bitcoin that has been doing well this year. Meme coins are also having their moment. Some of the older meme coins, such as Dogecoin and Shibu Intu, have recently experienced an explosive rally. Some of the newer meme coins have also been performing well and reflect the changing nature of the crypto space. However, it’s worth remembering that these coins are highly speculative and risky to trade.
Here, we look at a couple of the new coins:
BabyTrump
Among the new meme coins capturing investors’ attention is BabyTrump. Like the MAGA Coin, the name suggests Trump and his presidential campaign inspired this meme coin.
MAGA, which stands for Make America Great Again, an iconic slogan associated with Trump’s presidency, was launched on August 11, 2023. However, BabyTrump is the new kid on the block, which was launched at the start of this year and aims to set the gold standard within the crypto space.
However, it is worth noting that there is no official connection between Trump and these meme coins.
BabyTrump & MAGA
Baby Trump, if it’s anything like MAGA, could be influenced by any comments by the former President regarding cryptocurrency. His remarks could carry heavier weight as the race to the White House ramps up ahead of the November election.
In 2021, Trump called crypto a disaster waiting to happen. However, he has since changed his stance. Trump’s acknowledgment of Bitcoin’s increasing acceptance helped to send MAGA to an all-time high of $11.63 in early March, but has fallen since then.
MAGA and Baby Trump are considered experiments in PoliFi, which combines politics, finance, and community engagement. The pricing of these coins could predict Trump-related events, with the coin value expected to correlate directly with Trump’s actions and statements. In addition to Trump-driven price action, the coin communities’ active involvement also helps foster growth through campaigns and initiatives.
Although highly speculative, these coins could be considered a fun experiment and highlight the changing nature of the crypto world.
DiCaprio
DiCaprio, ticker symbol CHEERZ, is another meme coin that has attracted attention in recent weeks.
This project, launched on March 24, has a strong narrative behind it -Leonardo DiCaprio is a well-known and admired actor who has appeared in many popular films. The Dicaprio Cheers meme from the Great Gatsby film is known worldwide and has been used for years.
The meme coin has an X (formerly Twitter) page @CheersDicprio and a website to keep up to date with developments. Already, followers are growing. What’s interesting about this meme coin, which makes it stand out, is that there is a road map for the coin.
Furthermore, these coins have some form of utility; something holders can use their coins for in the games, meme generator, etc., which separates DiCaprio Cheers from some other meme coins,
The coin has a total supply of 1 billion and 450 million in circulation. The market cap is currently $1.343 million.
Since its launch, the Dicaprio meme coin has traded between $0.007293 and $0.002625.
