Berkshire Hathaway lifted its Google stake to roughly 106 million shares by the end of the second quarter, a position worth about $37.76 billion. The build ran alongside a $10 billion private placement in which Alphabet sold Berkshire new stock. Separately, Google Cloud's revenue growth accelerated to 82% in the same quarter, according to a different report.
Berkshire Hathaway held roughly 106 million Alphabet shares as of June 30, 2026, a position valued at about $37.76 billion, according to Berkshire's quarterly filing as reported by the Associated Press. The firm added roughly 48.1 million Alphabet shares during the second quarter, building on the 17.8 million shares, worth $5.6 billion, it held at the end of December 2025.
A private placement ran alongside the build
Alphabet's own disclosure shows the quarter included a $10 billion private placement to Berkshire, made up of 14,212,035 Class A shares and 14,359,656 Class C shares, under a Form 8-K filed June 4, 2026. Berkshire's filing does not break out how much of the quarter's increase came from the placement versus separate open-market purchases. The filings therefore confirm the scale of the position without stating Berkshire's rationale for building it.
Google Cloud's growth accelerates in a separate report
A different report on Alphabet notes that Google Cloud revenue grew at an 82% pace in the second quarter, up from 63% in the first quarter and 48% in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to the Motley Fool. Alphabet also raised its 2026 capital expenditure guidance by $15 billion to a range of $195 billion to $205 billion, roughly double 2025's levels, per the same report.
That report also states Alphabet stock trades more than 10% below its all-time high.
Neither report ties the two developments together, and the filings behind Berkshire's stake increase do not reference Google Cloud's growth rate or Alphabet's capital spending plans.
