Cathie Wood's Ark Invest sold shares of Palantir and AMD on September 8, 2026, and used part of the proceeds to buy more Archer Aviation stock. Palantir and AMD remain far larger holdings in Ark's flagship fund, but the added Archer bet signals growing confidence in the eVTOL air taxi maker.
Ark Invest disclosed that its flagship Ark Innovation ETF sold shares of Palantir Technologies and Advanced Micro Devices while buying roughly $3.35 million worth of Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR). The moves came through the fund's regular trade disclosures, which Ark publishes for every holding it manages.
The trade breakdown
Ark offloaded 38,395 shares of Palantir Technologies worth approximately $6.54 million and 19,491 shares of AMD worth about $9.9 million on September 8, 2026. Together, the two sales pulled roughly $16.4 million out of the fund's AI-related positions.
The fund then used part of that capital to buy 575,700 shares of Archer Aviation for roughly $3.35 million. Its total Archer stake now stands at nearly 31.96 million shares, valued at approximately $151 million as of Q2 2026, representing about 4.09% of Archer's outstanding shares.
Bigger holdings, growing conviction
Palantir and AMD still outweigh Archer within Ark's portfolio: they rank as the Ark Innovation ETF's 11th- and 12th-largest holdings, respectively. Archer sits at 30th and accounts for roughly 1.2% of the portfolio by weight, yet the increased Archer bet reflects growing confidence in the eVTOL maker rather than a fundamental loss of confidence in Palantir or AMD.
Ark's recent sales look like profit-taking after significant gains in both stocks, not a bet against them. Analysts appear to share some of Ark's optimism on Archer — the stock's consensus rating currently sits at Strong Buy, according to Crypto Briefing.
Archer's Boeing deal and stock slide
The eVTOL maker has been developing the Midnight, an electric vertical takeoff and landing plane built as an urban air taxi, and recently struck a deal to acquire Boeing's Insitu, SkyGrid and Wisk Aero subsidiaries. The agreement will give Boeing a 16.5% stake in Archer in exchange for the businesses.
Its stock jumped after the Boeing announcement but has since given back much of that gain. Shares are down roughly 31% year to date and 62% from their high, a pullback that has shifted the risk-reward balance for a stock market name Ark is known for buying at high risk for high reward.
