Elon Musk said Tesla's Cybercab could get a 40kWh battery pack and a liquid silver finish. He gave no timeline for either.
Tesla's Cybercab could run on a 40kWh battery pack and add a liquid silver finish, Elon Musk said on X on Saturday. He wrote that Tesla is also winding down Cybertruck production to make room for the robotaxi.
A smaller pack, but no date
Musk wrote: "There are efficiency improvements coming that will allow for a 40kWh Cybercab pack." He did not say when a 40kWh pack would reach production, what the gains are, or what range it would deliver.
However, Tesla has not published a battery capacity for current Cybercab builds. The post replied to an X user who compared a CyberSUV with 120kWh of batteries against a Cybercab with 48kWh, and that 48kWh figure came from the user, not from Tesla.
Liquid silver finish planned for Cybercab
Musk also said Tesla will build the Cybercab in liquid silver, so the colors are not too monotonous. Tesla's own Cybercab photos show the car in gold, and Musk did not say whether other colors are planned.
Why Cybertruck makes way
Musk spent the rest of the post on factory priorities. He wrote that if Tesla keeps a complex Cybertruck line, supply chain and engineering team, it cannot use those people or factory space for scaling Cybercab.
Musk has also said Tesla will add a Cybertruck shift to work through orders before the Giga Texas line is dismantled around June or July 2027.
