SpaceX shares closed at $151.21 on Sept. 11, nearly matching the $150 opening-day price from the company's June 12 public debut. The stock swung as high as $225.64 and as low as $108.27 in between, and analyst 12-month price targets now range from $75 to $800.

Space Exploration Technologies closed at $151.21 on Sept. 11, landing almost exactly where the stock opened on its June 12 public debut. Shares had opened at $150 that day, though many investors had difficulty filling their initial orders, according to a CNBC report cited in the piece.

A volatile round trip

The path back to $150 was not a straight line. By June 16, the stock had shot up to $225.64 before closing that day at $211.39. As IPO enthusiasm faded, shares then sank, and the stock closed at $108.27 on Aug. 5 before rallying back toward its starting point.

Price targets range from $75 to $217

According to CNN, of the 41 analysts covering the stock, 76% rate it a buy, 17% a hold, and 7% a sell. The lowest 12-month target sits at $75, while the median target is $217, a potential gain of 43.5% from the Sept. 11 close. A $5,000 investment at the median target would grow to $7,174, while the same amount would fall to roughly $2,479 at the bearish $75 target.

SpaceX remains unprofitable. The company lost $541 million in its second-quarter 2026 earnings report, an improvement from its $1 billion net loss a year earlier. Still, spending keeps climbing: in 2025 the company put $12.7 billion into its AI unit, $4.1 billion into connectivity, and $3.8 billion into its space division, and second-quarter 2026 capital expenditures totaled $18.3 billion, with $15.8 billion going to AI.

Revenue beat and new AI deals

Even so, second-quarter revenue of $7.8 billion topped expectations of $6.9 billion, per a CNBC report, with the AI, connectivity and space units all beating individual forecasts. The connectivity division alone posted operating income of $1.6 billion.

SpaceX has also lined up compute-rental deals with Anthropic and Alphabet that could together be worth $26 billion annually. It also has a Reflection AI agreement worth $150 million per month, or $6.3 billion if it runs its full term. SpaceX generated $18.7 billion in sales in 2025, giving it a current market cap of about $2 trillion.

The median price target implies a 43% gain from the Sept. 11 close, while the lowest target implies a 50% loss.
