The United States and Israel have reportedly discussed imposing a land blockade on Iran, according to the Telegraph, extending pressure beyond the naval blockade already in place on Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz. Prediction markets have already priced in the report, with the odds of the current blockade ending falling over the past day.

The United States and Israel have reportedly discussed imposing a land blockade on Iran to escalate economic pressure on Tehran, according to a Telegraph report cited by Crypto Briefing. The proposal would tighten Iran's regional trade routes in addition to the existing maritime blockade.

U.S. and Israeli forces already enforce a naval blockade on Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz as part of the 2026 Iran war. A land blockade would additionally require collaboration with Iran's neighboring countries to restrict land-based trade, though neither government has confirmed the discussions.

Crypto Briefing said the report is consistent with a decreasing likelihood that the current blockade will end soon, reflecting a significant increase in pressure on Iran. Prediction-market odds for an end to the blockade by July 31, 2026 dropped to 1.2%, down from 2% 24 hours earlier.

The broader conflict and the newly discussed strategies may indicate a continued trend of economic isolation for Iran, impacting regional dynamics. Statements from Iran's neighboring countries could signal cooperation or resistance to the plan, and shifts in Strait of Hormuz traffic-normalization odds could follow these geopolitical moves.
