Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says Russia could raise annual ballistic missile production to 1,300 units and mobilize 300,000 more troops after its September elections. He expects Russian-occupied and Ukrainian-liberated territory to be roughly equal by 2026.
Zelenskiy warned that Russia could increase missile production to 1,300 ballistic units a year and mobilize an additional 300,000 troops once Russia's September elections conclude. The comments point to a possible escalation in Moscow's military capacity, in a war that began with Russia's invasion in February 2022.
He also said he expects occupied and liberated territory to be roughly equal by 2026. Prediction markets have responded to the remarks: the odds of a direct NATO-Russia military clash by December 31, 2026 now sit at 25.5%.
Those odds do not extend to Iran's role in the conflict, however, as the statement carries no direct relevance to markets tied to Iranian military actions against Ukraine.
