Bittensor (TAO) trades near $285 in mid-October 2026, about 30% above its 2025 closing price and still more than 60% below the record it set in March 2024. TAO is the native token of Bittensor, a decentralized network where independent teams run “subnets” that compete to supply AI services such as model training, inference and data, and are paid in newly issued TAO. This page sets out PrimeXBT’s price outlook for TAO through 2030 and out to 2050, the chart levels that shaped October’s choppy trade, and the supply, governance and ETF questions that could move the token next. Bittensor copies Bitcoin’s 21 million cap and halving schedule, but its price depends on something Bitcoin never had to prove: that a token-funded market for machine intelligence produces work people pay for.
Bittensor outlook at a glance
- 2026 base case: $241–$319 for the rest of the year, with the monthly average holding close to $280 after September’s rebound.
- Main bullish catalyst: a decision on Grayscale’s request to turn its Bittensor trust into an exchange-listed ETF, which would open TAO to ordinary brokerage accounts in the US.
- Biggest downside risk: another governance rupture like April’s Covenant exit, or further Fed hikes, pushing TAO through the 200-day average near $246.
- Long-term view: a gradual climb toward about $600 by 2030, a level the token traded above in 2024, with figures past 2030 showing direction only.

Bittensor price prediction 2026–2030 (yearly forecast)
PrimeXBT’s yearly ranges for TAO come straight from the month-by-month path in the sections below: each year’s minimum and maximum are the lowest and highest monthly bounds, and the average is the mean of the monthly averages.
| Year | Minimum | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | $241 | $282 | $319 |
| 2027 | $241 | $330 | $495 |
| 2028 | $248 | $419 | $616 |
| 2029 | $301 | $502 | $737 |
| 2030 | $360 | $592 | $835 |
The path climbs more slowly than most published models. TAO supply still grows by about 3,600 tokens a day even after the December 2025 halving, and the rallies of 2026 have stalled below $350. A steeper rise would need buyers that do not exist yet in size, such as a US-listed ETF, and the ranges above do not assume one arrives on a set date.
Bittensor price prediction 2026
PrimeXBT’s outlook for the rest of 2026 places TAO between $241 and $319, averaging about $282. The base case has the token holding above its 200-day moving average while the market waits for two Federal Reserve decisions and any word from the SEC on the Grayscale filing.
| Month (2026) | Minimum | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| October | $256 | $285 | $314 |
| November | $252 | $282 | $313 |
| December | $241 | $280 | $319 |
A daily close above about $321, the late-September closing high, would put the $341 peak back in play. The lower bound reflects how fast TAO can fall: it lost about 13% between October 6 and October 8 alone.
Bittensor price prediction 2027
TAO’s 2027 range spans $241–$495, with an average near $330. The path starts the year close to current levels and lifts in the second half, on the assumption that subnet revenue keeps growing and that new supply, now half of what it was before the halving, is absorbed by staking.
| Month (2027) | Minimum | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | $241 | $288 | $335 |
| February | $241 | $295 | $350 |
| March | $241 | $303 | $365 |
| April | $241 | $311 | $380 |
| May | $242 | $318 | $395 |
| June | $243 | $326 | $409 |
| July | $244 | $334 | $424 |
| August | $245 | $341 | $438 |
| September | $245 | $349 | $452 |
| October | $246 | $356 | $466 |
| November | $247 | $364 | $481 |
| December | $248 | $371 | $495 |
Bittensor price prediction 2028
For 2028 the outlook covers $248–$616 with a $419 average. Some of the oldest subnets are expected to reach their own token halvings from 2027, which cuts the flow of subnet tokens that miners sell for TAO. That matters more to the 2028 picture than any single headline.
| Month (2028) | Minimum | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | $248 | $379 | $509 |
| February | $251 | $386 | $521 |
| March | $256 | $394 | $532 |
| April | $261 | $401 | $542 |
| May | $266 | $409 | $552 |
| June | $271 | $416 | $562 |
| July | $275 | $423 | $572 |
| August | $280 | $430 | $580 |
| September | $284 | $437 | $589 |
| October | $288 | $443 | $599 |
| November | $292 | $450 | $608 |
| December | $297 | $457 | $616 |
Bittensor price prediction 2029
The 2029 range runs $301–$737, averaging about $502. Taostats currently projects the second TAO halving for December 2029, when cumulative issuance reaches 15.75 million tokens. The date can slip, because recycled registration fees return tokens to the emission pool, so the path treats the halving as a late-year factor rather than a fixed launch point.
| Month (2029) | Minimum | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | $301 | $463 | $626 |
| February | $306 | $470 | $634 |
| March | $310 | $477 | $643 |
| April | $314 | $483 | $653 |
| May | $318 | $490 | $662 |
| June | $323 | $497 | $670 |
| July | $328 | $504 | $681 |
| August | $333 | $512 | $692 |
| September | $339 | $521 | $703 |
| October | $344 | $529 | $714 |
| November | $349 | $538 | $726 |
| December | $355 | $546 | $737 |
Bittensor price prediction 2030
The 2030 view covers $360–$835, with an average near $592. At the top of that band TAO would retest its 2024 record; at the bottom it would sit about a quarter above today’s price. Four years out, the width of the band says more than its midpoint.
| Month (2030) | Minimum | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | $360 | $554 | $748 |
| February | $366 | $562 | $759 |
| March | $371 | $571 | $771 |
| April | $376 | $579 | $782 |
| May | $382 | $588 | $793 |
| June | $387 | $596 | $804 |
| July | $391 | $602 | $812 |
| August | $393 | $605 | $817 |
| September | $395 | $608 | $821 |

Bittensor long-term price prediction: 2035, 2040–2050
No one knows which AI workloads will run on open networks in the 2040s, or whether Bittensor will still be the largest of them. The figures below extend the early-2030s path at a slowing growth rate and should be read as a rough slope.
| Year | Minimum | Average | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2035 | $510 | $785 | $1,059 |
| 2040 | $621 | $955 | $1,289 |
| 2050 | $834 | $1,283 | $1,732 |
On this path the average would pass TAO’s 2024 record only in the mid-2030s. A faster climb would require subnets to become a routine supplier of AI compute and models to paying customers, which today is true of a minority of them.
What analysts and models say (compared)
Research for this update found no TAO price target from a bank or a large asset manager in 2026. The published numbers come from algorithmic models and individual analysts, and they disagree sharply.
| Source | Method | Bittensor view |
|---|---|---|
| CoinCodex (Oct 16, 2026) | Algorithmic | End-2026 $216; 2030 $541; 2040 $1,199; 2050 $3,576 |
| CoinDataFlow (Oct 16, 2026) | Algorithmic | 2027 avg $314; 2028 avg $539; 2030 avg $1,208 |
| PricePrediction.net (Oct 16, 2026) | Algorithmic | December 2027 avg $345; December 2028 avg $831; December 2030 avg $996 |
| Coinpedia (Oct 14, 2026) | Editorial | 2026 range $160–$500; 2027 avg $720; 2030 avg $1,800 |
| CoinGabbar (Oct 1, 2026) | Technical | Range $280–$341 as the base case; $406 and $485 as extension targets above $341 |
The spread is wide even inside single sources: PricePrediction.net’s model swings from $345 in December 2027 to $2,305 in December 2029, then back to $996 a year later. CoinCodex’s end-2026 figure sits well below the current price, while Coinpedia’s 2026 range is wide enough to include both a halving of the price and a 75% gain. PrimeXBT’s ranges track CoinDataFlow closely in 2027 and fall below every model except CoinCodex by 2030, because issuance and governance risks weigh more in this outlook than momentum.
Track record of this forecast
This is the first PrimeXBT price forecast for Bittensor. From the next monthly review onward, this section will compare the previous forecast with TAO’s actual price on the update date and explain any miss rather than smoothing it over.
Bittensor technical analysis
As of October 16, 2026, TAO trades at about $285 on daily closing data, below its 20-day average near $292 but above both the 50-day (about $268) and 200-day (about $246) simple moving averages. The 50-day sits above the 200-day, so the medium-term trend still points up. The 14-day RSI reads about 51, neutral after the September run cooled.
The first resistance is $308–$321, the October 6 close and the September 26 closing high. Above it sits $341, the late-September intraday peak, and then about $346, the highest close of 2026, set in March. On the downside, the 50-day average and the October 8 closing low converge near $268. Under that, the 200-day average around $246 is the line between a pullback and a broken trend. The next support levels are near $217, the early-September low, and $187, the July low that started the rally.
Correlation with other assets
Over the past year TAO has moved most closely with other AI tokens, Render (RENDER) in particular, and almost as closely with Solana, Bitcoin and Ethereum on weekly returns. Equities barely register: weekly moves in the Nasdaq Composite and in Nvidia explain very little of TAO’s swings, and neither the US dollar index nor gold has shown a stable link. The odd feature is that TAO trades as part of crypto’s AI basket rather than alongside the AI stocks whose story it borrows, so a strong Nvidia quarter rarely shows up in its chart. One year of weekly data is a short sample, and the pattern can shift when the AI trade rotates.
Fundamental factors
Bittensor launched in 2021 under the Opentensor Foundation, co-founded by Jacob Steeves and Ala Shaabana. Its design mirrors Bitcoin: a maximum supply of 21 million TAO and halvings that cut issuance in half at set supply thresholds. The first halving, in mid-December 2025, reduced emissions from about 7,200 to about 3,600 TAO a day. Between 11.3 million and 11.6 million TAO circulate today, depending on the data provider, giving the token a market capitalization of about $3.2 billion.
Since the dynamic TAO (dTAO) upgrade in February 2025, each subnet has its own token, traded against TAO in an on-chain pool, and emissions follow the flow of TAO into those pools. The network ran 128 subnets as of May 2026, with an expansion to 256 under discussion. FalconX data for May 1, 2026 showed about 70% of TAO staked: 49.6% to the root network and 21.3% to individual subnets. That keeps a large share of supply off exchanges. The same report found that 67 of 128 subnets were burning almost all of their miner rewards in April, a sign that many subnets still lack paying users.
Governance is the weak spot. In April 2026 Covenant AI, which ran three of the larger subnets, left the network and accused Steeves of keeping effective control through the “Triumvirate”, the small group that still holds administrative rights. TAO fell 15% within two hours, according to The Block, and other outlets measured losses of up to 27% over the following day. The project’s stated goal is fully decentralized governance by the end of 2026, but the new voting system had not been deployed on mainnet by mid-2026.
Access is the other lever. Grayscale filed in December 2025 to convert its Bittensor trust, quoted over the counter as GTAO, into an ETF listed on NYSE Arca, and amended the filing in April 2026. Its October 13 filing still lists the shares on no national exchange. Bitwise has filed for a TAO Strategy ETF that would hold spot TAO and a TAO-backed product. Neither has been approved as of mid-October 2026. On the macro side, the Federal Reserve raised its target range to 3.75%–4% on September 16, 2026, which weighs on tokens with TAO’s 90% annualized volatility.
Upcoming catalysts
Only confirmed, dated events are listed. The two ETF filings have no public decision date.
| Date | Event | Potential impact |
|---|---|---|
| October 27–28, 2026 | FOMC meeting | Another hike would pressure high-volatility tokens; a pause would ease it |
| December 8–9, 2026 | FOMC meeting with economic projections | Sets expectations for the 2027 rate path |
| No set date | SEC decision on the Grayscale (GTAO) and Bitwise TAO ETF filings | Approval would open a regulated US channel for TAO demand; a rejection or delay would remove a support for the price |
| December 2029 (projection) | Second TAO halving at 15.75 million tokens issued, per Taostats | Daily issuance falls to about 1,800 TAO; the date can shift |
FOMC dates follow the Federal Reserve’s published 2026 schedule.
Bull case vs bear case
Bull case:
- An ETF listing for GTAO or the Bitwise product brings in regulated US demand for a token with a fixed cap.
- Subnet revenue grows and fewer subnets burn their miner rewards, which supports the case for paid demand.
- The halved issuance meets a staking rate near 70%, thinning the supply available on exchanges.
- TAO clears $341 and the March closing high near $346, ending the 2026 range.
Bear case:
- Another large subnet team leaves over governance, repeating April’s sell-off.
- The SEC delays or rejects the ETF filings, removing a key reason for this year’s interest.
- Further Fed hikes push speculative money out of small, high-volatility tokens.
- The AI-token trade cools and TAO follows Render and Fetch.ai lower, as it did in late 2025.
Invalidation levels. The bull case weakens on a daily close below about $246, the 200-day average, which would turn the medium-term trend down. The bear case breaks on a sustained move above $341, and more firmly above the $346 March close.
Historical performance
On year-end closes, TAO gained about 65% in 2024 and then lost about 50% in 2025. In 2026 to mid-October it is up about 30%, after a low near $146 in February and a 31% gain in September alone. The record close of about $730 came on March 7, 2024, during the first AI-token rally, and no rally since has come within half of it. Drops of 30% or more in a single month have happened more than once, most recently in November 2025.
Is Bittensor a good investment in 2026?
TAO is a claim on whether open networks can produce AI that customers pay for, with a supply schedule borrowed from Bitcoin. The halving and the ETF filings help on the supply and demand side; April’s governance dispute and the large number of subnets with little revenue show what the network still has to prove. PrimeXBT’s outlook reflects both, with a 2026 average near $282 and a 2030 average near $592. The token fell 50% in 2025 and moved 13% in two days this October, so the answer depends on what a holder can withstand as much as on the forecast. Position sizing and time horizon decide more here than any price target.
How to trade Bittensor on PrimeXBT
PrimeXBT lists Bittensor as a TAO/USDT perpetual contract in its crypto futures range. A futures position follows TAO’s price without owning the token, so it earns no staking rewards and carries no subnet votes, and it can be opened long or short. The guide to crypto futures trading explains how the contracts work. Leverage magnifies gains and losses alike, so position size and a stop-loss matter on any trade. Trade on your own analysis and risk tolerance, and never risk more than you can afford to lose.

How we build this forecast
PrimeXBT’s analysts combine three inputs for this outlook. Price structure comes first: TAO against its 20-, 50- and 200-day averages and the levels that have held or failed during 2026. Next is the network itself: daily issuance after the halving, the share of supply staked, subnet activity and the state of governance. Last is the macro and market backdrop, chiefly the Federal Reserve’s rate path and the progress of the ETF filings. The yearly ranges come from a monthly path built on these inputs, and the bands widen with distance because each input grows less certain.
The figures are estimates and can change quickly; TAO has moved more in a day than this outlook projects for a month. We review and update the forecast monthly.
How much will Bittensor be worth in 2026?
PrimeXBT's outlook places TAO between $241 and $319 for the rest of 2026, with an average near $282. The range assumes the token holds above its 200-day moving average while the market waits for the Fed's October and December decisions.
What is the Bittensor price prediction for 2030?
For 2030, PrimeXBT's outlook covers $360 to $835, with an average near $592. The width of that band reflects how much can change in four years, from governance to ETF access to the next halving.
How much will Bittensor be worth in 5 years?
Five years out, in 2031, the outlook path centres on roughly $640 as a mid-year average. Figures this far ahead depend on whether subnets turn into businesses with paying customers, so they indicate direction rather than a precise level.
Can Bittensor reach $1,000?
In PrimeXBT's outlook TAO does not reach $1,000 before 2030; the long-term path puts the average near $955 in 2040, with the upper bound above $1,000 from the mid-2030s. A faster route would require large new demand, such as a US-listed ETF combined with growing subnet revenue.
Is Bittensor a good investment in 2026?
That depends on time horizon and tolerance for volatility. TAO combines a fixed 21 million supply and a recent halving with open questions about governance and how many subnets earn real revenue. It fell about 50% in 2025 and has moved more than 10% in a day several times in 2026.
How much will Bittensor be worth tomorrow?
This page is updated monthly and does not give day-by-day forecasts. The live chart shows TAO's current price; for the near term, the levels to watch are support near $268 and $246 and resistance at $308 to $321.
When is the next Bittensor halving?
The second TAO halving is triggered when cumulative issuance reaches 15.75 million tokens. Taostats currently projects that for December 2029, but the date can move because recycled registration fees return tokens to the emission pool.
