ARK Invest reviewed its Big Ideas 2026 crypto calls and kept its 2030 Bitcoin target at around $1 million. The firm cut its emerging-market safe-haven estimate by 80% because of stablecoins, but raised its digital gold market estimate by 37%.
ARK Invest still projects that the digital asset market will reach $28 trillion by 2030. The firm sees Bitcoin taking approximately 70% of that total, and its 2030 price target remains around $1 million per coin.
The review follows what the source calls a rough year for prices, yet ARK says its long-term thesis has not changed.
Two roles anchor the Bitcoin thesis
The review is led by Digital Assets Director Lorenzo Valente and CEO Cathie Wood. Their argument rests on two jobs they believe Bitcoin performs: digital gold and permissionless money.
Digital gold is a scarce asset people hold to preserve wealth. Permissionless money is value that can move without a bank or government signing off.
Wood reinforced that framing in September 2026. She reaffirmed that Bitcoin's primary functions remain intact, even as stablecoins expand what they can be used for.
ARK adjusts two inputs, not the target
ARK's model changed in two directions. On the upside, the firm says the total addressable market for digital gold grew by 37%, following a 64.5% rise in gold's market capitalization in 2025.
On the downside, ARK cut its estimate of Bitcoin's safe-haven penetration in emerging markets by 80%. The reason is that stablecoins are spreading rapidly in those regions.
ARK acknowledged that shift in its model but did not let it move the 2030 target, which stays at $1 million.
Stablecoins as an on-ramp
ARK expects stablecoin adoption to accelerate the move toward digital money broadly, without fully displacing Bitcoin. The review also points to the institutionalization of Bitcoin, continued work in decentralized finance, and the tokenization of real-world assets such as bonds or property.
The firm frames its adjustments as refinements rather than reversals.
