ARK Invest and Securitize have tokenized ARKVX, the roughly $1.3 billion ARK Venture Fund, putting its ownership on Ethereum. The launch follows an amended SEC order issued three days earlier, and it changes how shares are recorded and distributed, not the fund's investment strategy.
ARK Invest and Securitize announced on September 24 that ARKVX is now available to eligible investors as a tokenized fund on Ethereum, marking ARK's first fund brought onchain. Securitize is providing the issuance and investor-facing infrastructure behind the launch.
Ownership shifts onchain, strategy stays put
The tokenization covers ARKVX's ownership and distribution infrastructure only; it does not change the fund's investment strategy or turn it into a separate crypto-focused portfolio. ARKVX is an actively managed, closed-end interval fund investing in private and public technology companies, and its portfolio includes OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe and Databricks. Investors receive tokenized shares in the existing fund structure, with the offering limited to eligible investors rather than an unrestricted public sale.
With approximately $1.3 billion in net assets, ARK Venture Fund becomes ARK's first fund to move onchain.
SEC order cleared the path days earlier
On September 21, the SEC issued an amended order for ARK Venture Fund that permits tokenized shares with ownership recorded through distributed-ledger technology and allows trading through regulated alternative trading systems and other quotation venues. ARKVX remains a venture fund rather than a cryptocurrency fund; the order simply lets its shares be represented on distributed-ledger technology, opening the regulatory route for the Ethereum-based structure that followed.
A partnership set up in advance
ARK's strategic investment in Securitize, announced in October 2025, preceded the ARKVX launch and helped establish the partnership behind it. That relationship now carries into a specific product: Securitize issues the tokenized shares and supports investors, while ARKVX's underlying strategy and portfolio remain unchanged.
