Bitcoin touched a weekly high above $64,000, and its bitcoin dominance over altcoins climbed to 57.2% as most other coins struggled to keep pace. Ether held just below $1,900 while XRP kept fighting for the $1.00 support level.
Bitcoin dominance jumps to 57.2%
Bitcoin climbed to $64,500 this morning, its highest level in just over a week, though it was stopped there. Its daily performance was still slightly more impressive than most altcoins, which is why bitcoin's dominance over the rest of the market kept climbing.
As a result, bitcoin's dominance rose almost 0.5% in a day to 57.2% on CoinGecko. Its market cap also neared $1.290 trillion.
A choppy week before the bounce
The rally follows a rough stretch. Bitcoin opened the previous week above $65,000 before bears pushed it under $64,000, and two rebound attempts stalled at $64,400. Those declines culminated Friday in a 10-day low of $62,500.
Buyers stepped back in after that low, though without much force. They helped bitcoin reclaim around $63,000, where it held through a stagnant weekend. It dipped again Monday to $62,650, then reacted better in the hours that followed. It jumped to $63,600, faced resistance, and resumed its climb into the evening and this morning, peaking at $64,550 — the highest level since the prior Monday's drop.
Altcoins lag behind
Most alts have failed to keep pace over the past day. Ether sits slightly below $1,900. XRP continues to fight for the $1.00 support level despite growing whale activity. SOL, TRX, HYPE, and LINK posted only minor gains.
Elsewhere, CC dropped over 4% and XLM fell 3%, while RAIN, XMR, ZEC, and DOGE slipped slightly into the red. VVV and HASH were the day's biggest gainers, up 17% and 11% respectively. The total crypto market cap added roughly $20 billion in a day, rising to $2.260 trillion on CoinGecko.
