US spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $191 million on Thursday, stretching their inflow streak to six sessions and past $2.8 billion, even as Bitcoin's price stays pinned near $84,000 after twice failing to clear $87,000. The pause follows the Federal Reserve's mid-September rate hike and a stalled Senate crypto bill, while whale wallets keep buying and Binance keeps recording net outflows.
US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds drew about $191 million in net inflows on Thursday. The haul pushed their six-session total past $2.8 billion. But demand is cooling: Thursday's total was down 81% from Monday's 2026 high of $999 million, the third straight session of slowing inflows.
ETF demand cools but the streak holds
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) accounted for about $163 million of Thursday's inflows, nearly half of the fund's $1.35 billion haul across the six-day run. Fidelity's FBTC added $12.86 million on the same day, according to SoSoValue data cited by crypto.news. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have now lifted year-to-date net flows to roughly $787 million, reversing a 2026 deficit of about $5.5 billion that stood at the end of June.
Bitcoin stuck below $87,000
At the time of Cointelegraph's report, Bitcoin traded at $83,807, down 0.3% over 24 hours but still up about 8% over the past seven days. A separate check by crypto.news put the coin near $84,403, up roughly 10.3% over seven days after rebounding from last week's low near $75,000. The price has now been rejected twice from the $86,000–$87,000 zone, having touched an eight-month high of $87,392 on September 21 before retreating.
Fed hike and a stalled Senate bill set the backdrop
The pullback follows a Federal Reserve rate decision earlier in the month. On September 16, the central bank raised its target rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4.00%. One day earlier, Senate cloture on the CLARITY Act failed 49–50, short of the 60 votes needed to advance the bill.
Whales accumulate as exchange balances fall
Crypto analyst Ali Martinez reported that large entities accumulated approximately 30,269 BTC over a 96-hour period, worth roughly $2.57 billion. Separately, CryptoQuant contributor Darkfost reported more than 13,800 BTC in net withdrawals from Binance in a single day, the exchange's largest daily net outflow since 2023.
October has finished higher in 10 of the past 13 years, though the streak broke last year, when Bitcoin finished October 2025 about 3.9% lower.
