U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs drew $2.61 billion across five trading sessions, their strongest combined week since October 2025. Bitcoin funds book $1.92 billion for the week
Spot Bitcoin ETFs added $307 million on Aug. 21, extending their run of daily inflows to five sessions. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, or IBIT, took in $239 million of that amount, nearly 78% of the day's total, while Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund added $30.19 million.
IBIT's cumulative inflows have reached $62.43 billion, and all U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs now hold $96.07 billion in net assets, equal to 6.17% of Bitcoin's market value. The five-day total followed $389.7 million in Bitcoin ETF outflows the week before, and it surpassed the $1.42 billion recorded in January, previously the largest weekly Bitcoin ETF inflow since October 2025.
Ether ETFs post $697 million across five sessions
Ether ETFs collected $185 million on Aug. 21, completing their own five-session run of inflows. BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust, or ETHA, led with $151 million, while Grayscale's Ethereum Mini Trust ETF added $11.51 million, lifting its cumulative inflows to $1.85 billion.
ETHA has now drawn $12.17 billion since launch, and the category holds $14.30 billion in net assets, representing 4.85% of Ethereum's market value. Ether captured about 27% of the week's combined inflows even as Bitcoin again took the larger share, a reversal from July, when Ether ETFs attracted $365 million against $205 million for Bitcoin funds.
Bitcoin clears $76,000 as short positions unwind
The ETF demand accompanied a sharp move in both assets. Bitcoin cleared $76,000 on Aug. 21 after gaining about 18% in two days, breaking through resistance at $65,000, $70,000 and $75,000. CoinGlass data showed almost $3 billion in crypto positions were liquidated as Bitcoin crossed $70,000, with short positions accounting for most of the losses.
Ether moved above $2,400 during the week after gaining about 18% in one 24-hour period, an advance that coincided with Ether ETFs' largest daily intake since October 2025, $221 million on Aug. 20.
Nansen senior research analyst Nicolai Søndergaard attributed the rise to forced short covering, institutional demand and improved liquidity. LVRG Research Director Nick Ruck was more cautious, saying sustained inflows are unlikely without additional confirmation: "Sustained inflows are unlikely without additional confirmation."
BlackRock captures most of Friday's inflows
BlackRock took a combined $390 million through IBIT and ETHA on Aug. 21, about 79% of the day's $492 million aggregate inflow across both categories. By the end of the session, Bitcoin and Ether ETFs held about $110.36 billion in combined net assets.
