BNB Smart Chain is preparing BEP-675, a block-building upgrade that lets builders submit fully executed blocks instead of forcing validators to re-run every transaction. Internal tests found the change nearly doubled throughput without slowing finality, and it forms part of BSC's wider scaling plans for the second half of 2026.

BNB Smart Chain is moving toward a mainnet rollout of BEP-675, a proposal designed to fix a core inefficiency in how blocks get built and confirmed. Under the current SendBid system, specialized builders assemble and execute a block before sending it to validators, who then re-execute every transaction themselves to check it is valid. Because BSC runs on a 450-millisecond block interval, that duplicated work eats up a large share of the available production window.

Cutting validator overhead

BEP-675 changes the procedure by letting builders submit fully executed blocks through a new mechanism called SendBidBlock. Validators sign and broadcast these blocks after comparing them against consensus rules, with full verification happening later rather than upfront. According to BSC's testing, this cuts validator overhead on the critical path from 125 milliseconds to just 15 milliseconds, freeing up an additional 100 milliseconds for builders to pack transactions into each block.

The gains showed up on QANet, an internal testnet built to mirror BSC's cross-region validator setup. Both the old and new configurations kept the same 450 ms block interval and 100 million gas limit, yet throughput rose 88% from 1,237 TPS to 2,324 TPS. Average block gas utilization climbed from 46.35 million to 84.15 million, while the median jumped from just 29.49 million to 98.99 million.

Finality holds steady

The added throughput did not come at the cost of confirmation speed. In both setups, P99 finality stayed at one or two blocks, so the upgrade primarily squeezes more use out of existing block capacity rather than raising BSC's theoretical limits.

Under the previous system, about 25% of blocks could arrive nearly empty because builders ran out of time to pack them. With BEP-675, most tested blocks approached the gas ceiling instead. Adopting the change requires builders to run full nodes rather than fastnodes and to manage several competing bids at once, though legacy bids remain supported and regular BSC users will see no significant interface changes. BEP-675 sits alongside FOCIL and Block-Level Access Lists as part of BSC's broader scaling roadmap for the second half of 2026.
