Chainlink is rolling out a service that extends pricing for stocks, commodities and other traditional assets through weekends and holidays, with decentralized lender Aave as its launch partner. The oracle provider calls the product Chainlink 24/7.
How Chainlink 24/7 sets off-hours prices
The service combines prices from regular and extended trading sessions with quotes from perpetual futures venues when traditional markets close, according to an announcement shared with CoinDesk. Its off-hours reference therefore reflects derivatives trading, rather than transactions on closed traditional exchanges.
Chainlink says it aggregates quotes from multiple perpetual futures venues, filters stale inputs and limits outlier influence. The service switches between trading-session data and the off-hours reference, which gives applications one continuous price series per asset.
Aave adopts the feeds for Horizon
Aave is adopting the service in its feeds for Horizon, its institutional lending platform, starting with tokenized versions of heavily traded U.S. stocks. Horizon lets qualified investors borrow against tokenized assets.
The launch targets a pricing gap. Blockchain markets operate around the clock while the assets they track trade on fixed schedules, and applications have had to pause markets, rely on the last available price or build their own systems to value assets during closures, according to Chainlink.
Crypto Briefing reports that Aave plans to use the Data Feeds on Horizon for continuous valuation of tokenized real-world asset collateral, beginning with high-volume US equities.
Building on the 24/5 rollout
Chainlink introduced 24/5 U.S. stock and ETF pricing in January, covering pre-market, regular, post-market and overnight sessions. The company said its weekday pricing infrastructure now covers more than $1.6 billion in tokenized stocks.
Delivery splits by use. Lending protocols can use prices published directly on blockchains through Chainlink's Data Feeds, while trading platforms and prediction markets can retrieve faster updates through Data Streams, which also identify the current market session so applications can adjust their risk settings.
