The unemployment rate for people aged 25 to 29 also rose, reaching 7.5% in August, up from 7.2% in July. Meanwhile, the jobless rate for the 30 to 59 age group held steady at 3.9%, unchanged from the prior month.
The survey-based figures measure joblessness across different age segments of China's urban workforce.
