CME Group began trading UNI futures on October 19, 2026, making Uniswap's token the first decentralized exchange governance token listed on the venue. The contracts launched alongside Bitcoin Cash futures. UNI's price jumped on the announcement but fell back before trading began.
Uniswap's UNI token now trades as a futures contract on CME Group, the first governance token from a decentralized exchange to win a listing on the derivatives venue.
Two contract sizes, cash settlement
CME Group announced the plan on September 22, 2026, pairing UNI with Bitcoin Cash. Trading went live on October 19, 2026, following regulatory approval.
A standard UNI contract covers 10,000 UNI, while a micro contract covers 1,000 UNI. Both are cash-settled against the CME CF Uniswap-Dollar Reference Rate, so nobody receives actual UNI tokens at expiry. The contracts also offer 24/7 access through the CME Globex platform.
NewsBTC reported that the Bitcoin Cash contracts come in sizes of 250 BCH and 25 BCH. NewsBTC added that the contracts let participants manage price exposure without arranging custody of the underlying tokens.
UNI spikes, then retraces
The token reacted to the news. On the day of the announcement, UNI's price spiked roughly 15-19%, reaching around $10.43 to $10.90 in subsequent trading.
However, the rally did not hold in full. The token retraced to the $7.30 to $7.50 range before the contracts went live. Crypto Briefing also reported that the announcement spurred substantial whale accumulation.
Separately, open interest in UNI-related derivatives topped $1 billion around the announcement period.
CME widens its crypto lineup
The listing fits a push by CME to grow its crypto futures lineup beyond Bitcoin and Ether. CME's crypto futures and options averaged 279,800 contracts per day in the first half of 2026, about $8.3 billion in notional value.
For institutional desks limited to regulated venues, the contracts offer a way to express a view on UNI or hedge an existing position. Crypto Briefing noted that the swing from near $10.90 back to the $7.30 to $7.50 range shows a CME listing is not a price floor.
