Coinbase and Ripple executives are expected to join a White House crypto meeting with President Trump and regulators next week. The gathering is described as a kickoff for the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee, while the CLARITY Act's odds of passing this year keep sliding.

Executives from Coinbase and Ripple are expected to attend a White House crypto meeting with President Donald Trump and administration officials next week, according to Semafor. Ripple will attend the gathering on Wednesday, one of several crypto and fintech firms invited.

Coinbase, Ripple among expected attendees

Executives from a16z, Chainlink, Paradigm, and Kalshi are also likely to attend, alongside Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. President Trump is expected to join, along with SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Chair Mike Selig. The meeting follows a Politico report that the White House was preparing to host a gathering focused on crypto and prediction markets.

People familiar with the planning described the event as a kickoff for the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee inaugural meeting on August 20, where participants will discuss crypto regulation, AI, and prediction markets. Armstrong and Garlinghouse have both pushed the Senate to pass the CLARITY Act, with Armstrong expressing optimism the bill would still pass despite stalling during the Senate's August recess.

CLARITY Act odds keep slipping

However, the bill's odds keep falling. Data from prediction market Polymarket shows a 19% chance that Trump signs the CLARITY Act into law this year. Galaxy Research cut its own odds to just 10%, citing unresolved issues and a shortened Senate session before the midterms recess.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune has scheduled a procedural vote for Sept 15. The SEC canceled a crypto meeting that had been scheduled for today and put its proposed Innovation Exemption guidance on hold, likely to avoid clashing with the CLARITY Act process.

Ripple has made repeated appearances at the White House. Garlinghouse attended the administration's first presidential Digital Assets Summit in early 2025, and the company, tied to the XRP cryptocurrency, was also present in July when the GENIUS Act was signed.
