Coinbase has selected Chainlink to support price feeds for the tokenized U.S. stocks it now issues on Base, extending an oracle partnership already running on the network. The shares, backed one-for-one by holdings at custodian Alpaca, are live in DeFi protocols including Aerodrome and Aave, and Beefy Finance has integrated the assets for automated yield strategies.
Coinbase has selected Chainlink to support its tokenized U.S. stocks on the Base platform, according to a recent announcement on social media. The choice extends Chainlink's existing infrastructure for tokenized equity feeds, which already runs on Base. It continues a broader pattern of integration between the two companies that includes earlier initiatives such as Project Diamond and DataLink, underscoring Coinbase's push for robust oracle and interoperability infrastructure around its tokenized asset ecosystem.
Apple, Nvidia and Meta shares move onchain
The tokenized stocks, issued by Coinbase on Base's B20 token standard, are backed one-for-one by underlying shares held with custodian Alpaca, giving holders a direct beneficial claim on the corresponding equities. Initial assets include tokenized shares of Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Alphabet, with more expected in the coming weeks. The shares are available to eligible users outside the United States, who can hold them in self-custody wallets and trade around the clock rather than during standard market hours.
DeFi protocols plug into the new assets
Aerodrome now provides liquidity for the tokenized stocks, while lending protocols including Aave support borrowing against them. That could let holders pair the shares with stablecoins, use them as collateral, or feed them into automated investment products. Beefy Finance has also integrated the assets, in a move that suggests a focus on automated yield management for the new instruments. An onchain multiplier handles corporate actions such as dividends and stock splits without disrupting existing DeFi positions.
Alpaca holds the underlying shares in a bankruptcy-remote custody structure supervised under the Abu Dhabi Global Market regulatory framework.
