Cronos (CRO) climbed 5% on the day even as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Cardano posted losses. The move follows an announcement that the Cronos App will expand globally next month, and one analyst points to a double-bottom pattern near $0.046 as a bullish setup — though an overbought RSI reading tempers the outlook.
CRO breaks from the broader sell-off
The crypto market is another sea of red today, August 14, with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Cardano (ADA), and other major tokens posting losses. Cronos (CRO) has bucked that trend, and some analysts believe it could climb further if it clears key resistance.
CRO's rebound follows a rough stretch. Earlier this month, Trump Media withdrew its plan to strike an ETF deal with Crypto.com and dropped its intention to accumulate $6.4 billion in CRO. The token reacted by tumbling to around $0.046, its lowest level in three years, then traded below $0.05 for several days before bulls briefly reclaimed that mark. As of this writing, CRO trades at around $0.048, a 5% daily increase, per CoinGecko.
App expansion news drives the bounce
The most likely catalyst is Ryan Wyatt's announcement that the Cronos App will go global on iOS and Android next month. The CEO of Cronos App said users will be able to access sports, stocks, crypto, and perps on the platform.
According to Wyatt: "More to share in the future: plans for CRO, sharing future feature rollouts".
Analyst Crypto With Gopal said the price has formed a double bottom after retesting the $0.046 support zone twice, with buyers defending that zone. He added that a confirmed breakout above $0.050 resistance could open the way toward a $0.055 target.
Overbought signal keeps expectations in check
Wyatt's disclosure has triggered a clear price increase, yet it is unlikely to cause a sustainable rally on its own. The excitement may fade, and sellers could retake control, while the broader bear market isn't helping either.
Another headwind is CRO's Relative Strength Index, which has risen to around 74, placing the asset in overbought territory and raising the odds of a short-term pullback. The RSI ranges from 0 to 100, and readings below 30 are typically viewed as a buying opportunity.
