Dogecoin broke above $0.10 this week, hitting its highest price since June before the move faded into the close. The rally coincided with X's new in-app trading partnerships, heavy whale accumulation, and the largest daily spot DOGE ETF inflow since January.
Dogecoin spiked to an intraday high of $0.1059 this week, its highest level since June, before sellers stepped in and the token closed the day down 0.62%. The coin had opened at $0.0999 and corrected to $0.0992 after the pop faded.
X's trading tie-ups fuel the move
X announced new trading partnerships with Gemini, Kraken, Coinbase, Moomoo, and Interactive Brokers, letting users trade directly from the platform's timeline via cashtags. The news landed as Bitcoin's own push higher pulled the broader market into a risk-on mood, with traders rotating profits into smaller, higher-beta names including Dogecoin. Derivatives open interest on Dogecoin jumped roughly 10% in a single hour to around $350 million, a sign leverage rather than spot buying drove much of the move.
Whales accumulated and shorts got squeezed
In the days before the spike, whale wallets accumulated between 240 million and 360 million DOGE tokens. DOGE short positions alone accounted for $12.66 million of the more than $1 billion in crypto shorts liquidated across the market that day. Spot DOGE ETFs added another leg to the story: daily inflows hit $909,650 on September 21, the largest single-day figure since January.
Technicals stay mixed
Dogecoin's daily RSI sits at 69.4, edging toward the 70 level where traders start watching for exhaustion, Its ADX reads 32.5, above the threshold that separates a real trend from noise. Still, the coin's 50-day EMA remains below its 200-day EMA — a death cross that has yet to flip and that typically takes weeks of sustained buying to reverse. Notably, Dogecoin's rally doesn't appear to trace back to any specific Musk announcement or social media post, unlike past surges tied directly to his posts.
The rally is real, but it is unfolding underneath a technical structure that remains bearish on paper.
