The FTSE 100 is flat on the last trading day of July but remains on course for its best month since February. The index looks set to stay about a hundred points short of the 11,000 mark this month. With two hours of trading left on Friday, it had gained about 407 points over the course of July, putting it on track for a rise of nearly 4% for the month.
The index fell 6.7% in March after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran. It has since recovered that ground and edged above its previous high from February.
