Glassnode's Altcoin Cycle Signal has climbed to 81.25, moving above the 75-point threshold that marks altcoin-season conditions. The shift follows Bitcoin's push past $86,000 and a roughly 33% rise in the altcoin market since August 19, while Bitcoin's share of the total crypto market has slipped below 60%.
Glassnode Signal Enters Altcoin Season
Glassnode's Altcoin Cycle Signal has reached 81.25 on its seven-day average, moving above the 75 mark that the on-chain analytics platform defines as altcoin-season territory. The signal tracks whether market performance favors Bitcoin or altcoins on a 0-100 scale.
The reading marks a break from August, when Bitcoin moved from $64,000 toward the $77,000-$80,000 range while most altcoins stayed flat. This time, Bitcoin has climbed from the mid-$70,000 range in mid-September to near $86,000, and Glassnode's signal shows the rally spreading across altcoins rather than staying concentrated in Bitcoin. According to Glassnode: "today's rally has ignited the full breadth of the altcoin market."
Bitcoin Dominance Falls Below 60%
Bitcoin's share of the total crypto market has dropped to 59.7% after failing to break back above 60% earlier this month. A falling bitcoin dominance reading points to capital rotating toward altcoins as traders move money beyond Bitcoin.
At the same time, Bitcoin's push above $86,000 lifted market confidence but also triggered nearly $1 billion in liquidations.
Altcoin Market Cap Surges 33%
The rotation shows up directly in the numbers. Total altcoin market capitalization, excluding Bitcoin, tells the same story. That figure has climbed to around $1.17 trillion, its highest level since late January. Since August 19, the altcoin market has grown by about 33%, evidence that the current rally is spreading beyond Bitcoin rather than staying contained to it.
