The Houthis have claimed strikes on six sites in Saudi Arabia, including Aramco facilities, and a separate attack on the Abqaiq facility. Saudi authorities have not confirmed these claims, and prediction markets put the odds of a Saudi airspace closure at 16%.
The Houthis say they struck six sites in Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones, targeting energy facilities, airports and military locations. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree made the announcement, naming Aramco facilities in Yanbu and the Shaybah oil field among the key locations.
However, Saudi authorities have not confirmed these alleged strikes. The claims follow earlier Saudi reports of intercepting missiles aimed at Riyadh.
Abqaiq facility named in a separate claim
In a separate announcement, the Houthi movement said it launched an attack on the Aramco facility in Abqaiq. The site is a crucial part of Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure and was previously targeted in 2019.
Independent verification of the claim remains pending. The Saudi government has not yet confirmed the Abqaiq attack, although it has acknowledged other incidents involving Aramco properties.
Prediction markets react
The market appears to reflect a cautious outlook. Odds of a Saudi airspace closure by December 31 stand at 16%, a modest change from recent days.
Markets also price the possibility of the Houthis entering Aden by December 31, 2026 at 18% YES, a recent increase in perceived likelihood.
Observers are now watching for any response from the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation or Saudi Air Navigation Services on airspace security measures.
