LayerZero's ZRO token jumped 14.42% as trading volume and open interest both expanded, pushing the price back above $1.00 and through the descending channel that had guided its decline since March. The breakout lifted ZRO toward $1.255 resistance, but an overbought RSI reading points to pullback risk before the next leg higher.
ZRO broke above the descending channel that had guided its decline since March, reclaiming the $1.00 level that previously capped the price as resistance. The token pushed on to $1.255, the next resistance level on the daily chart, before easing back to trade around $1.16.
Volume and leverage both climbed with the rally
The 14.42% price surge came alongside a 15.46% jump in trading volume to about $115.9 million, a combination that points to active buying rather than a thin-market move. Derivatives traders added to the momentum, with open interest climbing 15.75% to $126.33 million at press time, showing fresh positioning behind the recovery rather than traders cutting exposure.
Rising open interest alongside rising prices generally strengthens the bullish derivatives backdrop, though it also leaves the market more sensitive to a reversal. A sharp rejection could prompt leveraged traders to rethink positions built during the recent expansion.
Traders lean long on Binance
Binance top traders showed a clear bias toward long positions, with 79.75% long and 20.25% short as of writing. The long/short ratio extended to 3.94.
That heavy long concentration cuts both ways. It has supported the rising open interest and given ZRO's 14% gain a solid derivatives base, but it also means crowded positioning could add downside risk if buyers lose the upper hand.
Overbought RSI raises pullback risk
The RSI surged to 81.23, pushing well into overbought territory and raising the likelihood of exhaustion in the near term. Still, an overbought reading alone doesn't undo the improved technical structure from the channel breakout.
Beyond the immediate $1.255 resistance level, the $1.545 zone marks the next area of interest before the larger $2.00 supply zone. Holding above $1.00 would preserve the breakout, while clearing $1.255 would determine whether buyers can extend the recovery further.
