Insiders at Nvidia, Palantir, Alphabet, and Meta Platforms sold more than $3.4 billion of their own stock over the trailing 12 months through the end of July 2026, according to Form 4 filings. None of the four companies' insiders bought a single share back over that period.
Insiders at four of Wall Street's biggest artificial intelligence stocks have sold more than $3.4 billion of their own shares over the past year — and bought none of it back. Nvidia builds the graphics processing units that power AI-accelerated data centers, while Palantir, Alphabet, and Meta deploy AI applications across government, cloud, and advertising. Palantir's Gotham platform serves military and government clients, Alphabet has folded AI into Google Cloud, and Meta gives advertisers access to generative AI tools within its ad network.
Executives sold $3.4 billion, bought nothing
Securities law requires insiders — executives, board members, and holders of 10% or more of a company's shares — to report stock transactions within two business days. Those Form 4 filings show insiders at Nvidia sold $1,821,666,071 of stock over the trailing 12 months. Nvidia's market cap stands at $5.1 trillion.
Palantir insiders sold $1,016,593,902 in stock over the same period. Alphabet insiders sold $243,459,361 in stock. Meta insiders sold $347,607,473 over the same span.
Not all insider selling is a warning sign. Executives often receive most of their pay in stock or options, and some of those shares get sold to cover tax bills. But across these four companies, insiders spent zero dollars buying shares over the same 12-month stretch — and buying is the one insider move that signals a belief the stock will rise.
Stretched valuations and a familiar bubble pattern
The lack of any insider buying suggests these executives don't see their own shares as a bargain right now. That view lines up with price-to-sales ratios at Palantir and Nvidia that sit well above their historic averages. Every major technology wave since the mid-1990s has also gone through an early bubble-bursting phase, and AI likely won't be the exception given how many years it could take businesses to fully deploy the technology.
If that pattern holds, shareholders in Nvidia, Palantir, Alphabet, and Meta will feel it.
