The visit follows a Trump-Zelenskiy meeting in New York and a Moscow meeting between Putin and Trump envoys earlier this month.
Kirill Dmitriev, an envoy for Russian President Vladimir Putin, met with US officials in Washington on Monday for talks a US official described as constructive, covering an end to the Ukraine war and possible US-Russia energy initiatives once the conflict ends.
The meeting by Dmitriev, who also heads Russia's RDIF sovereign wealth fund, follows a meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy last week in New York, where Zelenskiy said the two discussed a potential ceasefire on energy-related targets. Trump envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Putin in Moscow earlier this month.
