A Qatari delegation visited Iran on Sunday to mediate US-Iran tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran says talks with Oman on a temporary shipping corridor through the strait have reached their final stages. Iran also warned South Korea against any military role in the Persian Gulf, calling it support for Washington.

A Qatari delegation visited Iran on Sunday in an effort to ease tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement from Iranian official Baghaei. Direct US-Iran negotiations remain at a standstill, but Doha is continuing shuttle diplomacy with Tehran and other regional players to keep dialogue open.

Qatar keeps the channel open

The visit is the latest step in Qatar's ongoing effort to mediate between Iran and the United States as maritime disruptions around the strait intensify concerns over de-escalation. Observers are watching for formal statements from Iranian or Qatari officials confirming progress, since any announcement of resumed negotiations could shift how markets read the chances of US-Iran peace talks by year-end.

Iran and Oman near a Hormuz shipping deal

Separately, Iran says its negotiations with Oman over management of the Strait of Hormuz have reached the final stages, according to a report by @FirstSquawk. The talks aim to establish a temporary shipping corridor through the strait, a route disrupted by the Iran-US conflict. There is no confirmation yet from Tier 1 sources, and the report does not signal an end to the broader conflict.

Warning to Seoul

Iran also warned South Korea on Monday against any military deployment or participation in operations in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. According to Crypto Briefing, Tehran said such involvement would be seen as direct support for the United States, potentially leading to "serious consequences." The strait remains a strategic flashpoint after previous exchanges of strikes between the US and Iran.

Together, the three developments show Tehran pursuing parallel tracks: accepting mediation from Doha, negotiating a narrower shipping arrangement with Muscat, and drawing a line against wider foreign military involvement.
