Riot Platforms has repaid its entire $200 million loan from Coinbase Credit and shut down the facility, releasing 5,821 BTC pledged as collateral. The bitcoin miner closed the loan roughly seven months ahead of its April 2027 maturity and paid no early termination fee.

Riot Platforms (NASDAQ: RIOT) has repaid all outstanding principal and interest on its $200 million Coinbase Credit facility and terminated the agreement. Coinbase's commitment to extend further loans under the facility also ended.

Voluntary payoff closes a fixed-rate loan

The bitcoin miner and data center developer completed the voluntary repayment on Sept. 21, according to a Friday filing with the SEC. Riot incurred no early termination fee or penalty on the payoff.

An April 2026 amendment fixed the facility's rate at 6.15% annually and extended its maturity to April 20, 2027. Riot had fully drawn the $200 million facility, which at that rate would carry about $12.3 million in annual interest.

Collateral release frees pledged bitcoin

The repayment lifted restrictions on a large pool of collateral. As of June 30, Riot had pledged 5,821 bitcoin, valued at about $340.7 million, representing roughly 51% of its total holdings of 11,380 BTC at the time.

Coverage under the agreement also extended to USDC and cash held with Coinbase Custody Trust, and Riot said the security interests were released concurrently with repayment. The company did not disclose the quantity of bitcoin pledged immediately before termination.

From $100 million to zero

Riot originally obtained a $100 million bitcoin-backed facility in April 2025 to fund strategic initiatives and general corporate purposes, then doubled it to $200 million the following month. That April 2026 amendment replaced the original floating-rate structure, which implied a minimum annual rate of 7.75%, with the fixed 6.15% rate.

Under the agreement, an early termination fee applied only through the four-month anniversary of the original April 21, 2026, maturity date. That window ended Aug. 21, so Riot owed no fee on the September repayment.

Data-center pivot continues

The payoff comes as Riot expands its data center business alongside bitcoin mining. In August, the company announced a 20-year lease for 191 megawatts of computing capacity at its Rockdale campus with an unnamed artificial intelligence developer. Riot said the agreement was expected to generate about $9.1 billion in revenue over its initial term.

Riot's total holdings of 11,380 BTC are now fully unencumbered, one of the larger corporate bitcoin treasuries among publicly traded miners.
