Ripple has expanded its partnership with Brevan Howard, with Ripple Prime set to provide the alternative investment manager with multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing services. The deal builds on Brevan Howard's participation in Ripple's $500 million strategic funding round in 2025 and extends Ripple Prime's push beyond crypto into traditional markets.
Ripple has deepened its relationship with Brevan Howard, one of the world's largest alternative investment managers, by expanding Ripple Prime's services to the fund. The companies announced the expanded agreement on October 6, with Ripple Prime set to offer multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing across Brevan Howard's funds.
A platform spanning traditional and digital markets
Brevan Howard will gain access to Ripple Prime's unified platform, which covers crypto assets such as XRP and RLUSD alongside traditional instruments. Ripple Prime provides services across foreign exchange, derivatives, fixed income and digital assets, and also offers portfolio and risk-based margin financing.
Alan McGroarty, Group COO of Brevan Howard, said the growing connection between digital and traditional markets is increasing the need for institutional digital asset infrastructure. According to CryptoPotato: "Ripple has built a differentiated platform" that the firm expects will improve operational ease and capital efficiency for its investment teams.
Building on a year-old financial tie
The expanded agreement extends a relationship that dates back to 2025, when funds managed by Brevan Howard affiliates participated in Ripple's $500 million strategic investment round. That round, which also included Fortress Investment Group, Citadel Securities, Pantera Capital, Galaxy Digital and Marshall Wace, valued Ripple at $40 billion.
Ripple Prime, formerly known as Hidden Road before Ripple bought the business for $1.25 billion, became the first crypto firm to own and operate a global multi-asset prime broker. The business reportedly clears more than $3 trillion annually and serves over 300 institutional clients.
Ripple Prime keeps widening its reach
The Brevan Howard expansion follows Ripple Prime's launch of a Delta One institutional trading platform, which lets hedge funds, asset managers and other clients execute total return swaps across U.S.-listed equities, indices and digital assets. Customers can also cross-margin exposures across asset classes through a single counterparty relationship.
Ripple has not disclosed whether Brevan Howard will specifically use XRP or RLUSD under the new arrangement. The agreement nonetheless gives Ripple Prime another institutional client alongside its more than 300 existing customers.
