Ripple laid out an engineering roadmap for the XRP Ledger at XRP Seoul 2026, adding confidential transfers, transaction batching, and dedicated infrastructure for AI agents. The company says AI-agent activity on the ledger has already crossed 11 million transactions.
Ripple's Senior Director of Engineering, Ayo Akinyele, outlined an engineering roadmap at the XRP Seoul 2026 conference centered on trust, privacy, scalability, and AI-agent support. Ripple says the XRP Ledger is being prepared for a new wave of institutional and developer adoption, with the company aiming to expand the network beyond simple payments toward more complete institutional and automated use cases.
Confidential transfers target institutional privacy
Among the most important new developments are confidential transfers powered by zero-knowledge proofs, according to a presentation published on X by an account dedicated to covering conference news. Full on-chain transparency has historically created difficulties for traditional financial institutions that cannot publicly expose every detail of complex transactions, the presentation said. The planned confidential-transfer functionality would let institutions keep sensitive transaction workflows private while still proving their validity to the network and relevant regulators.
Ripple is also working on transaction batching through formal verification and adversarial testing, so multiple transactions or operations can be bundled together and executed on an all-or-nothing basis. That could improve efficiency for developers and institutions building more sophisticated applications on top of the XRP Ledger.
AI agents already driving ledger activity
Akinyele said AI agents have already generated network volume surpassing 11 million transactions on the XRP Ledger. Ripple is building infrastructure specifically for autonomous agents to push that growth further.
The planned tools include verifiable identities, permissions and spending controls, and secure smart wallets capable of holding both XRP and stablecoins.
