Robinhood is rolling out crypto trading to UK customers this week through its Bitstamp exchange, bringing more than 50 cryptocurrencies including XRP to its investment app. The expansion lets British investors trade crypto in the same app they already use for stocks and shares ISAs, with zero trading fees. It arrives as the UK's Financial Conduct Authority tightens its rulebook for the crypto sector.
Robinhood is bringing more than 50 cryptocurrencies, including XRP, to UK investors this week via its Bitstamp exchange. The rollout, announced Monday, lets eligible customers buy and sell crypto directly alongside stocks, shares ISAs, equities, options and futures without leaving the app.
Bitstamp powers the rollout
The service runs through Bitstamp, the UK-registered crypto-asset service provider Robinhood acquired in 2025. Robinhood completed that acquisition in June 2025 and, at the time, said Bitstamp carried more than 50 licenses and registrations globally, with customers across Europe, the UK, the US and Asia. The company said the crypto trading service begins rolling out to eligible customers this week.
Among the tokens available are Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Hyperliquid, while Robinhood's broader lineup adds Shiba Inu, Solana, Dogecoin, Cardano, Avalanche and Chainlink. Trading carries zero fees, with no account-maintenance or custody charges, though network fees may still apply to blockchain transfers. Robinhood said the launch addresses what it sees as shortcomings in the UK's existing crypto market, including opaque pricing and wider spreads at some incumbent platforms.
A tightening UK rulebook
The expansion lands as the UK's regulatory framework undergoes a major overhaul. In June, the Financial Conduct Authority finalized a package of rules for the crypto sector, introducing requirements on financial resilience.
The FCA's 2025 consumer research found that 8% of UK adults owned cryptoassets, down from 12% in the previous year's research. However, crypto holdings grew larger, with fewer users holding £100 or less.
Awareness held at 91% of the population. 73% of users bought their assets through a centralized exchange.
