Michael Saylor hinted at more Bitcoin buying by Strategy, which now holds 848,250 BTC. But the company's latest weekly purchase was small, and a pending MSCI decision weighs on its shares.
Strategy founder Michael Saylor signalled further Bitcoin accumulation in a tweet. According to U.Today, he wrote: "We found room for more orange," alongside a new chart marking each purchase with an orange marker.
The company's dashboard shows it controls 848,250 BTC, equal to 4.04% of total global supply. That stack is worth $69.45 billion at an average purchase price of $75,444 per coin, which leaves net unrealized profit at 8.15% and year-to-date portfolio growth at 26.1%.
Weekly Bitcoin buying drops to an annual low
Yet the company's October reports point the other way. Over the reporting week, Strategy bought just 250 BTC, about $21.5 million, an annual low for direct purchases.
The source links the slowdown to a shift in capital toward debt. Strategy directed $192.4 million to buy back its Series STRC preferred shares, whose yield jumped to 12.31%. Management considered cutting the future dividend burden a higher priority than buying Bitcoin at current prices. The company also keeps a $5.5 billion cushion in dollar instruments.
MSCI decision adds pressure on MSTR shares
MSCI has updated its selection criteria, and Strategy now faces exclusion from global investment benchmarks because the value of its Bitcoin has eclipsed its core software business. The official decision is expected on November 11, 2026, and JPMorgan analysts estimate a potential forced outflow of passive-fund capital from MSTR shares at $2.8 billion.
Investors have already reacted. The shares fell 9.56% to $136.83, and the basic MNAV ratio slipped to 0.83x, a discount to net asset value.
Strategy remains the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, but debt obligations and the November MSCI risk now limit how fast it can add to its stack.
