Sequans Communications has sold its final 34 BTC, completing an exit from its Bitcoin treasury strategy that began earlier this year. The NYSE-listed semiconductor firm says it now holds no cryptocurrency and no debt outside government-funded research obligations, and it is turning its full attention back to its chip business.

Sequans clears its balance sheet

Sequans Communications sold its remaining 34 BTC this week, closing out the Bitcoin treasury exit it began earlier this year. The sale leaves the company with no cryptocurrency holdings on its balance sheet and no outstanding debt, aside from obligations tied to government-funded research and development programs.

The company frames the move as the final step in a broader balance-sheet restructuring, not a bearish call on bitcoin itself. CEO Georges Karam said Sequans had monetized its remaining holdings in a "measured and opportunistic manner", and will now devote its attention to its semiconductor growth strategy.

A retreat that started months ago

Sequans began winding down its BTC position in May, when it used part of its holdings to redeem all remaining convertible debt issued in July 2025. At that point it still held roughly 658 BTC but had already announced its digital asset treasury strategy had concluded. By June 30, the stash had fallen to 314 BTC, before being emptied out entirely by late September.

The wind-down came alongside stronger core results. Product revenue rose by more than 80% year-over-year in Q2, and the company's six-month product backlog more than tripled over the same period.

Other firms are cutting Bitcoin exposure too

Sequans is not alone. Satsuma Technologies also dismantled its treasury vehicle, disposing of its remaining units a few months back, while Empery Digital sold 1,400 BTC for about $87 million earlier this year. Other public companies have reduced their bitcoin exposure this year as well.
