Snap posted $1.60 billion in Q2 2026 revenue, a 19% year-over-year jump that beat analyst estimates, and shares climbed 13% in extended trading. A wave of FIFA World Cup advertising spending drove the beat, even as daily active users fell in the company's most valuable markets.

Snap shares climbed 13% in extended trading following its August 3 earnings release. The company reported $1.60 billion in Q2 2026 revenue, a 19% jump from a year earlier that beat analyst estimates of roughly $1.54 billion.

World Cup ad dollars fuel the beat

The FIFA World Cup opened the advertising floodgates for Snap this quarter. Large North American advertisers piled into Snapchat campaigns to reach younger audiences glued to tournament coverage, and the spending showed up directly in the top line.

CEO Evan Spiegel credited the World Cup tailwind, along with strength from small- and medium-sized businesses, for the results. He also pointed to ongoing improvements to Snap's AI-powered ad tools, which sharpen targeting and bidding — upgrades that have apparently proven especially effective for smaller advertisers without large in-house marketing teams.

Daily active users slip in its best markets

Daily active users reached 493 million, up 5% year over year. But North American daily active users declined approximately 7%, and European daily active users fell roughly 2% — the two regions where each user generates the most advertising revenue, meaning Snap lost ground precisely where users are worth the most.

Guidance points to another jump

Snap projects Q3 2026 revenue of $1.70 billion to $1.74 billion, with adjusted EBITDA between $300 million and $350 million. The company also plans to detail its consumer AR glasses at a September 16, 2026, event.
