Fidelity Digital Assets research found Solana accounted for roughly 15% of trades measured against major U.S. exchanges in 2026. The network briefly surpassed the New York Stock Exchange in weekly executions, though the two markets trade different instruments.
Solana briefly surpassed the New York Stock Exchange in weekly trade count, according to new research from Fidelity Digital Assets. The report found the blockchain averaged approximately 15% of the exchange trades in Fidelity's comparison during 2026.
The measurement counts trades, not the dollar value of assets exchanged. Fidelity's comparison pairs decentralized spot exchange trades on Solana with activity from traditional venues, which handle different instruments, trading rules and participants. Fidelity also cited Nasdaq research indicating that approximately 50% of U.S. equity trading volume occurred away from exchanges in 2025, so the figures do not show that Solana handles 15% of the American securities market.
Faster block times and higher capacity
Fidelity also examined upgrades meant to make processing faster for professional traders. Its research noted that Solana's slot times had stabilized near 400 milliseconds, with developers working toward a longer-term target of approximately 200 milliseconds.
The network recently raised its maximum block capacity from 60 million to 100 million compute units, a 66% increase. Meanwhile, the Alpenglow consensus upgrade went live on October 21 and targets finality near 150 milliseconds, but an independent October 23 measurement recorded median finality around 404 milliseconds.
Tokenized assets and perpetual futures expand trading
Solana said in a November 8 announcement that monthly tokenized-asset trading volume had grown from less than $100 million to nearly $5 billion. Fidelity's research charts the growth of tokenized assets, including equities, Treasury products, commodities and private credit instruments.
Derivatives add to that activity. According to the report, Solana-based perpetual futures platforms processed more than $590 billion in notional trading volume during the preceding 12 months.
SOL slides as Fidelity flags revenue risk
The research arrived while SOL kept trading under pressure. According to crypto.news market data, Solana traded near $89.59 on November 8, down 0.36% over 24 hours and 19.24% during the previous month.
Fidelity warned that network revenue remains exposed to changing trading conditions. During weaker cryptocurrency markets, fewer profitable trading opportunities can reduce demand for priority execution and related fees.
