S&P 500 futures rose Friday alongside a broader global rally after strong earnings from Amazon and Microsoft reignited the AI trade. Nasdaq 100 and Dow futures advanced too, while the yen and Bank of Japan policy stayed in focus a day after suspected intervention.

S&P 500 futures rose 0.32% on Friday, joining a global rally as strong earnings from Amazon and Microsoft reignited the AI trade. The move extended to other major benchmarks: Nasdaq 100 futures gained 1.05% and Dow futures added 0.45%.

Amazon and Microsoft revive AI trade confidence

Investor worries that the AI rally might run out of steam eased after Microsoft's earnings on Wednesday, where it forecast generating cash throughout fiscal 2027. Amazon followed a day later with its strongest cloud growth in more than four years, calming investors who had been looking for signs that AI investment is bearing fruit.

Rally lifts indices worldwide

The advance stretched well beyond Wall Street. In Europe, the STOXX 600 hit a record high, poised for its fourth consecutive month of gains. South Korea's KOSPI, battered by heavy losses earlier in the week, leapt 17.91% in a record comeback, though it remains about 30% off its all-time high.

Globally, the MSCI All Country World Price index gained 0.81%, putting it on track to snap a two-week losing streak — though it would still end the month down 0.40% should current levels hold.

BOJ holds rates as yen intervention lingers

The rally came a day after Japanese authorities likely stepped in to prop up the yen. The Bank of Japan held interest rates steady on Friday. BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda said inflation risks were skewed to the upside and that the central bank was prepared to speed up the pace of rate hikes should monetary conditions remain accommodative. The dollar pared its earlier drop against the yen, last trading up 0.35% at 160.09 yen.
