The S&P 500 has gained 141.0% since the end of 2019, putting the index on pace for one of its best decades on record. Data cited by the Kobeissi Letter shows the run could rank as the second-best decade ever, behind only the 1989-1999 dot-com boom.
The S&P 500 (SPX) is in the middle of a bull run that has more than doubled the index's value in under 10 years. Data from the Kobeissi Letter shows the S&P 500 has gained 141.0% since the end of 2019, putting it on track to shatter the record set during the post-war boom by the end of this decade.
According to the Kobeissi Letter: "US stocks are having one of their best decades in history." If the current pace continues, the index will finish the decade with a cumulative gain of roughly 277%.
That pace would rank as the second-best decade on record, trailing only the +316% return posted during the 1989-1999 dot-com boom. It would also surpass the +257% gain seen during the 1949-1959 postwar boom decade. By comparison, the S&P 500 returned +190% between 2010 and 2020 following the 2008 financial crisis.
The Kobeissi Letter is also watching gold and silver, which are rallying after the US Treasury Department announced Treasury buybacks. The two metals added a combined $1.3 trillion in market cap after the announcement, according to the newsletter.
