S&P Dow Jones Indices is set to announce its latest S&P 500 rebalancing Friday, a decision that touches funds holding nearly $27 trillion tracked to the benchmark. S&P Dow Jones Indices will announce changes to the S&P 500 on Friday, and the decision could affect index-tracking funds holding nearly $27 trillion tied to the benchmark.

According to Brooks Cutright of Hedgeye Asset Management, 36 companies appear to qualify for entry into the index, while more than 110 existing members no longer meet the market capitalization hurdle required to stay in.

Companies added to or removed from the index can see trading activity move as funds that track the S&P 500 adjust their holdings. S&P Dow Jones Indices will announce the final changes.
