SpaceX, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Tesla each added more than $100 billion in market capitalization in a single trading session. The synchronized move pushed Nvidia's valuation to roughly $5.42 trillion and Microsoft's to about $3.69 trillion, while SpaceX and Tesla posted the sharpest percentage gains of the four.
Four of the world's most valuable companies added more than $100 billion each in market capitalization in a single session. For context, $100 billion is roughly the entire market cap of a company the size of Starbucks or Goldman Sachs — and each of these four firms generated that much extra value before the closing bell.
Nvidia and Microsoft lead by size, SpaceX and Tesla by percentage
Nvidia's valuation has climbed to approximately $5.42 trillion, making it the world's most valuable public company. Microsoft sits at roughly $3.69 trillion. Tesla, meanwhile, carries a valuation near $1.41 trillion.
At those sizes, a $100 billion single-day gain translates to very different moves. It works out to roughly a 1.8% gain for Nvidia and a 2.7% gain for Microsoft. For Tesla, the same dollar gain equals about a 7% jump.
SpaceX adds to the surge after its record IPO
SpaceX posted the largest percentage move of the four: the $100 billion gain equals about a 5.4% jump given its size. The company completed the largest US IPO in history on June 12, raising approximately $75 billion at $135 per share, and it has since fluctuated around $1.85 trillion in valuation.
Shares rose approximately 19-20% on their first trading day, a debut that briefly made Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire given his estimated 38-50% stake in the company. In the days that followed, SpaceX shares hit intraday highs near $225, pushing the company's valuation above $2.6 trillion and temporarily putting it ahead of both Amazon and Microsoft.
