Tesla's Robotaxi account says more than 300 Cybercabs are now serving Austin, an eightfold jump in the 30 days since paid rides began. The official account posted the update Saturday afternoon, and Tesla's main X account amplified it within minutes.
According to the post, the fleet reached an 8x increase in 30 days. Cybercab is Tesla's purpose-built robotaxi, and it seats two with no steering wheel or pedals. Tesla started carrying paying public riders in Texas in early September.
However, a state registry count and a serving fleet are different things. Earlier this month, Texas registration records showed the authorized Cybercab count climbing from 169 to 319 after 150 new VINs were added. Saturday's post is Tesla's own claim about cars actually in the Austin fleet.
Tesla has not said whether all of those Cybercabs are unsupervised, how many still carry a safety monitor, or whether wait times and service hours have changed. Robotaxi hours in Austin already run until 11 p.m. The company has also not said when Cybercabs will start carrying Dallas riders, who still get Model Ys for now.
