The on-chain market cap for tokenized stocks has crossed $3.1 billion, a new all-time high. BNB Chain now holds over $1 billion of that total, powered largely by Binance's bStocks product, which has driven cumulative trading volume past $19 billion since its June launch.

The on-chain market cap for tokenized stocks has crossed $3.1 billion, a new all-time high for a sector that barely existed in meaningful form a couple of years ago. BNB Chain accounts for roughly a third of that total, holding over $1 billion in tokenized equity market cap. The whole category was worth just $1.7 billion at the end of June, so it has nearly doubled in about two months.

BNB Chain's outsized role

BNB Chain has emerged as the dominant player in tokenized equities. By late August, the network's share of tokenized equities supply reached approximately $1.3 billion. That captured close to 50% of the estimated $2.9 billion market at the time. Cumulative trading volume on BNB Chain for tokenized stocks and ETFs has surpassed $5 billion.

The catalyst was Binance's launch of bStocks on June 11. The product mints BEP-20 tokens backed 1:1 by real US stocks and ETFs held in reserve, and it reached $100 million in assets under management within two weeks. By late August, cumulative bStocks volume had blown past $19 billion.

bStocks now offers exposure to more than 700 assets on-chain, ranging from established names such as NVIDIA and Tesla to pre-IPO companies including SpaceX. Other issuers on BNB Chain include Ondo Global Markets, which leads the network in trading volume, and xStocks.

Why tokenized stocks are gaining traction

Traditional stock markets trade roughly 6.5 hours a day, five days a week, and close on holidays, but tokenized stocks trade 24/7. Fractional ownership is another draw, since buying fractional shares of high-priced stocks remains awkward through many traditional brokers outside the US. A tokenized stock can also serve as collateral in lending protocols or be bundled into on-chain index products.

The sector's trajectory — from $1.7 billion in late June to $2.3 billion in mid-July, $2.9 billion in August and now $3.1 billion — suggests sustained growth.

Ethereum and Solana still compete for share

Ethereum remains the overall leader in the broader real-world assets category, which spans tokenized treasuries, credit products and commodities alongside equities. Solana has also been positioning itself as a competitor in tokenized stock issuance. However, when multiple platforms issue tokenized versions of the same stock, liquidity fragments — a tokenized Apple share from bStocks isn't fungible with one from xStocks, even though both reference the same asset.

The total US stock market alone is valued at roughly $55 trillion, so tokenized stocks still represent a fraction of a fraction of global equity markets. Given bStocks went from zero to $19 billion in cumulative volume within three months, the sector's ceiling is probably well above $3 billion.
