The Pentagon is asking Congress for $67 billion in additional funding to sustain the conflict with Iran, on top of the $37.5 billion the United States has reportedly already spent. The request is expected to meet resistance from lawmakers in both parties, while prediction markets price the odds of a US-Iran deal with reconstruction funding by 2026 at 29%.

Washington is seeking $67 billion in fresh defense funding for the ongoing war with Iran, a request expected to meet resistance in Congress. The United States has reportedly spent more than $37.5 billion on the campaign so far, in a US-led conflict where Israel stands as a principal belligerent.

That money would go toward munitions, operational support, and classified defense programs, according to the Pentagon's appeal. But lawmakers from both parties have raised concerns about rising war spending, which could delay or alter the funding. The scale of the request points to a prolonged engagement rather than a resolution.

Traders, meanwhile, have grown less optimistic about a diplomatic path. Prediction markets now put the chance of reconstruction funding being folded into a US-Iran deal by 2026 at 29%. Confidence across related sub-markets has wavered, and the largest recent move was a 2-point drop in those probabilities.
