XRP broke through a key resistance zone to reach $1.42 on Friday, with whales still accumulating and one analyst saying $10-$20 is on the table. An overbought RSI reading suggests the rally may need to cool before it extends further toward the coin's all-time high.
XRP has become one of the best-performing crypto assets this week, surging more than 35%. In the past 24 hours alone, it rose almost 20%. The move has revived talk of a run at the token's all-time high.
Bulls take the resistance zone
The token broke through several major levels before reaching $1.42 on Friday, including the $1.293-$1.302 range previously flagged by analyst Diana. Sellers tried to push the price lower, but XRP held on, and Diana said the move may represent a confirmed breakout that could bring the all-time-high zone back into focus.
However, the 4H RSI remains around 83, an extremely overbought reading. A failure to hold $1.30 could cool momentum and make $1.20 the key support to defend.
Analyst sees $10 to $20 as possible
Analyst Crypto Patel said a move toward $10 for XRP shouldn't be dismissed, pointing to the token's past price action as evidence of its capacity for sharp gains. XRP traded around $0.006 in 2017, when a move to $3 was considered impossible, before eventually reaching more than $3 in 2018. It was also being described as finished in 2023 before surging from $0.50 to $2.60 in November 2024.
Weighing fast transactions, low fees, and real-world payment adoption, Patel argued: According to Crypto Patel: "$10-$20 is absolutely on the table."
Whales keep buying
Adding to the bullish backdrop, XRP whales have continued accumulating. Data cited by analyst Ali Martinez showed large holders acquired more than 300 million tokens since the start of the current business week.
