Ripple unlocked 1 billion XRP worth more than $1.06 billion in three separate releases, reviving supply concerns just as exchange netflows turned positive for one of the few times in months. XRP held its $1.05 support zone regardless, though weakening momentum left the token exposed to a deeper pullback.
Ripple unlocked 1 billion XRP worth more than $1.06 billion through three separate releases, reviving supply concerns just as exchange netflows swung positive for one of the few times in months. XRP nonetheless kept defending its key support zone, even as momentum indicators weakened.
Ripple's unlock breaks into three tranches
The release split into 500 million XRP worth $532.86 million, 300 million XRP worth $319.65 million, and 200 million XRP worth $213.11 million. Token unlocks have not always triggered immediate selling, however, because Ripple has historically redistributed portions of unlocked supply through escrow management.
Traders instead watched whether exchanges would receive a meaningful share of the fresh tokens, tracking on-chain metrics for confirmation.
Exchange netflows turn positive
Spot exchange netflows reached +$2.41 million at press time, one of the few positive readings after an extended stretch of largely negative flows. The figure stayed modest next to historical inflow spikes that have exceeded tens of millions of dollars, leaving buyers room to absorb the added supply without immediately disrupting market stability.
Conviction would likely strengthen if future sessions return to negative netflows, while consecutive positive readings could reinforce expectations of growing exchange-bound supply.
NVT ratio falls 62.08% as network activity climbs
XRP's Network Value to Transaction ratio dropped to 87.8584, a 62.08% decline on the day, suggesting transaction activity generally accelerated faster than market capitalization. Such conditions often support healthier market structure, though improving activity alone rarely erases concern about fresh supply.
XRP defends $1.05 as momentum weakens
XRP traded around $1.0656, having repeatedly rejected downside tests of the $1.05 floor while resistance held near $1.15.
Momentum indicators pointed to fading strength, with the MACD turning negative across both lines. The MACD line slipped to -0.0119, with the signal line at -0.0089 and the histogram negative, reflecting weakening bullish momentum rather than renewed strength.
If buyers hold the $1.05 floor, XRP could attempt another push toward $1.15. Losing that floor, however, would likely expose $1.00 as the next major downside target.
