XRP trades near $1.50 as two catalysts converge in the same week: Evernorth's Nasdaq debut under ticker XRPN and two conditional XRP Ledger upgrades. Bulls face resistance around $1.55, and derivatives positioning shows traders have not front-run the dates aggressively.

XRP trades near $1.50 as bulls test resistance around $1.55, with Evernorth's Nasdaq listing and two conditional XRP Ledger upgrades both set for the October 8-9 window. A sustained break above $1.55 could put $1.63 in view, but without confirmation, $1.45 stays the key downside reference.

Evernorth's Nasdaq Debut Widens Access

Armada Acquisition Corp. II shareholders approved the business combination with Evernorth on September 30, with the deal expected to close on October 7. The combined company's Nasdaq trading under ticker XRPN is scheduled to begin on October 8.

At closing, Evernorth expects to hold 473 million XRP and receive about $300 million in gross cash proceeds. The company frames the listing as a regulated route to XRP exposure, but that exposure runs through company shares, not a direct spot purchase of the token. Whether XRPN trading translates into measurable token demand remains unsettled.

Two Ledger Upgrades Target Institutional Use

Two XRP Ledger upgrades could activate in the same window, provided validator support clears the required threshold. PermissionDelegationV1_1 could activate around October 8, letting one account grant another narrowly defined permissions without handing over full control keys. BatchV1_1 could follow around October 9, letting users group as many as eight transactions in one action.

The amendments may improve how financial firms handle permissions and linked transactions on the ledger. However, they do not by themselves establish that banks or asset managers will adopt the features at scale.

Positioning Stays Cautious Ahead of the Dates

Large-holder balances changed little over the preceding week, while Binance XRP open interest stood at about $516.6 million, above 2026 lows but far below the more than $1.3 billion recorded around October 2025. CryptoQuant analyst R3N characterized the positioning as less leveraged and more cautious.

Lower open interest leaves room for leverage to rebuild if a catalyst draws traders in, but it also confirms that derivatives participants were not aggressively positioned ahead of the dates. A close above $1.55 with follow-through would show buyers responding to the calendar; absent that confirmation, XRP's positioning argues against treating institutional access or protocol upgrades as already delivered demand.
