XRP Ledger payment volume jumped 35.1% in a single day before pulling back, while the network separately crossed 10 million in AI agent payments. XRP's price has held near $1.48 through both moves, even as traders on Binance trimmed leveraged derivatives positions.
XRP Ledger payment volume exceeded 929 million XRP on September 29, a one-day jump of 35.1% that pushed activity well above the 30-day average of roughly 615 million XRP. It came while XRP's price was drifting lower.
Volume cools, price holds near $1.48
Payment volume has since slipped to 708.6 million XRP, down 23.8% over 24 hours, though it remains above the updated 30-day average of 624.2 million. XRP trades at $1.48, down from the $1.66 high reached in late September, with recent candles showing a steady run of lower highs on fading volume.
The price still holds above the 200-day moving average near $1.37, which now overlaps with the 50-day average, and the RSI has settled near the midline. A defense of $1.45 to $1.37 would keep the recovery intact and open a retest of $1.55 to $1.66, while a close below $1.37 would put the $1.31 zone in focus.
AI agent payments cross 10 million on the ledger
AI payments platform t54 Labs revealed the XRP Ledger has crossed 10 million in x402 payments. RippleX head of engineering J. Ayo Akinyele said larger volume is still dominated by AI agents paying for inference and data, posting: According to J. Ayo Akinyele, via CoinGape: "10M+ x402 payments have now settled on the XRP Ledger", less than three months after hitting the 1 million milestone.
Separately, the XRPL AI Hub shows about 10.9 million all-time transactions, with nearly 6,610 XRP and 9,870 RLUSD settled across 161 registered merchants, and more than 600,000 x402 payments clearing on the ledger daily.
Leverage retreats on Binance
Open interest in XRP derivatives on Binance has fallen 15.3% from its six-month high, according to CryptoQuant data, with XRP sliding about 5% over the same window, from $1.66 to $1.57. As of October 1, 2026, open interest on Binance XRP perpetuals stood at approximately $485 million, after rebounding from around $219 to $220 million in mid-September toward yearly highs near $600 million.
That swing shows how fast leveraged positioning can turn: open interest moved from the low $200 million range to near $600 million in a matter of weeks before the current pullback.
