XRP Ledger payment volume surged past 1 billion XRP in a single day, reaching roughly 1.13 billion XRP and marking its biggest transaction spike in a month. The price of XRP has not kept pace with the jump, still trading below its key moving averages as chart signals stay mixed.
The XRP Ledger recorded one of its biggest surges in on-chain activity in recent months, with account-to-account payment volume breaking past 1 billion XRP in a single day. Payment volume climbed to roughly 1.13 billion XRP, more than doubling from recent daily levels. That marked the biggest transaction spike of the past month, according to XRPL network data.
Payment volume signals network use, not price direction
XRPL payment volume differs from exchange trading volume — it tracks XRP transferred directly between accounts on the network. Because of this, it is often read as a sign of genuine blockchain use rather than speculative trading, especially after a few weeks of comparatively low network flows. Such jumps have historically coincided with periods of heightened market activity, though payment volume alone cannot show whether the transfers reflect buying, selling, or internal wallet movements.
Price still lags the on-chain jump
Even with the on-chain jump, the price of XRP has not kept pace with the increase in activity. The daily chart shows XRP trading below its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day exponential moving averages. Price action also broke down from a small symmetrical triangle that had formed through July, and XRP is still struggling to reclaim the pattern's lower trendline.
Momentum stays split down the middle: the relative strength index sits at 47, neither overbought nor oversold. That leaves room for a move in either direction, contingent on buying pressure emerging after the ledger activity spike.
Traders now watch for a longer-lasting trend
Large payment flows may stem from whale wallet reorganizations, exchange treasury management, or institutional settlements, none of which necessarily creates immediate buying pressure on the open market. Still, the jump above 1.13 billion XRP shows the ledger remains active beneath the surface. If the increase turns into a long-term trend rather than a one-day spike, the fundamental case for XRP may strengthen once broader market sentiment improves.
A break above those moving averages, rather than a single-day transfer spike, is what would show XRP regaining bullish momentum.
