XRP has climbed back to about $1.50, with buyers defending $1.45 support as the XRP Ledger heads toward two possible protocol upgrades on October 8 and October 9. Momentum indicators point higher but remain unconfirmed, while derivatives positioning on Binance stays far below year-ago levels.
XRP trades near $1.50, up roughly 1% over 24 hours but down about 2.5% over the past seven days, according to CoinGecko. Its market capitalization stands near $94.7 billion, with 24-hour trading volume close to $1.02 billion.
The token has struggled to extend its late-September recovery. CoinGecko data put XRP at $1.57 on Sept. 25 before it slipped to $1.48 on Oct. 2 and $1.49 on Oct. 3.
Resistance holds near $1.52–$1.55
Trader Symba said XRP remains above its $1.45 support zone, while a descending trendline continues to cap price around 1.52–1.53. A confirmed breakout above that trendline could open a move toward $1.55, with continued buying beyond that point exposing $1.63 and $1.65.
CoinLore's Oct. 4 technical update puts the 14-day RSI at 55.23, putting momentum slightly on buyers' side without reaching overbought territory. The MACD line sits near 0.0373, below its signal line around 0.0443, leaving that indicator neutral.
Bollinger Bands place the upper boundary close to $1.63 and the lower band near $1.29, with XRP still inside the range. Moving averages put XRP above its 20-day EMA near $1.47, 50-day EMA near $1.38 and 100-day EMA near $1.32.
Binance open interest rebuilds slowly
CryptoQuant analyst R3N reported Binance XRP open interest at 516.6 million, up from a 2026 low near 350 million to 400 million but still well below the more than 1.3 billion recorded near the start of October 2025. Late August and September had produced a temporary rise in both price and positioning, with open interest moving from approximately 400 million above 700 million as XRP advanced from near $1 toward the 1.25–1.30 range.
R3N described the current market as "less leveraged, more cautious" than a year earlier. A separate CryptoQuant review found Binance open interest fell 15.3% from $616.1 million on Sept. 22 to $521.5 million on Sept. 29 while XRP declined 5.2% from its six-month high over the same period.
Two XRPL amendments line up for Oct. 8 and Oct. 9
PermissionDelegationV1_1, which lets an XRPL account grant specific transaction rights without handing over its master key, could activate as early as Oct. 8 at 21:25 UTC after validator support regained the qualifying majority on Sept. 24.
BatchV1_1, which would let users package as many as eight transactions into one coordinated batch, and a companion security amendment, fixBatchV1_2, are lined up for Oct. 9 if validator support stays above the required threshold. Each amendment still needs its own validator approval before becoming part of mainnet rules.
