YouTube terminated the Bitcoin Treasuries channel without prior strikes or warnings, cutting off an education-focused outlet run by host Tim Kotzman. The takedown joins a wider run of removals hitting Bitcoin creators, some of which were reversed only after public backlash.
YouTube pulled the Bitcoin Treasuries channel, run by host Tim Kotzman under the @BitcoinTreasuryCompanies handle. According to Crypto Briefing: YouTube labeled its content "harmful or dangerous". The channel received no prior strikes or warnings before the termination.
Kotzman has filed an appeal with YouTube, but the timing cuts against him. Bitcoin Treasuries Media, the organization behind the channel, has conferences on corporate Bitcoin strategy in the pipeline, and the takedown strips it of a key outreach channel just as it needs one.
A pattern across Bitcoin channels
The removal isn't isolated. Bitcoin.com's channel, active since 2015 and carrying over 100,000 subscribers, was also terminated. BTC Sessions and Bitcoin Magazine saw their channels removed too. Some of those reversed after public pushback forced YouTube to reconsider.
Educational Bitcoin channels have lost millions of subscribers collectively during the sweep. Beyond the subscriber counts, creators lose embedded videos across external sites, archived educational material, and revenue streams built up over years.
What the channel covered
The Bitcoin Treasuries channel focused on corporate adoption of Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset, covering corporate holdings data, treasury management strategies, and wallet tutorials. It wasn't promoting altcoins or selling trading signals.
Meanwhile, fraudulent ads featuring deepfake videos of prominent figures promoting fake giveaways continue running through YouTube's own monetization system. The platform profits from the same kind of content it says it's protecting users from.
Where creators go next
Crypto creators have increasingly diversified onto platforms like Rumble and Nostr, which apply more permissive content policies to financial topics. For Bitcoin Treasuries Media, the appeal is now the immediate priority, and prior reversals suggest YouTube responds more to public attention than to the merits of any single case.
